About your guides:

Dean was the Lord Howe Island Ranger for 16 years and his extensive knowledge will ensure a memorable day in which you will learn about the World Heritage-listed island’s values and its amazing natural history. As an A class bird bander and manager of the Island’s Woodhen monitoring program for many years, Dean will reveal to you the secret lives of some of the Island’s rarer bird species.

Kayla is a sixth-generation Lord Howe Islander, who has spent most of her life on Lord Howe, she has completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Outdoor Recreation and Eco-Tourism. She also has a major in Wildlife Management. In 2013 Kayla competed in the Mt Gower Challenge; in which only 5 competitors raced to complete the mammoth 10km mountain. When Kayla guides the trek with guests it generally takes 8 hours on a fast day.  Kayla can complete the race in under 2.5 hours.

From March to September walkers will share the summit environment with a unique winter breeding seabird, the Providence petrel (Pterodroma solandri), view the acrobatic flying behaviour of this bird and call a totally wild seabird out of the sky.

To ensure a personal experience, the walking group is limited to a maximum number of 15 hikers.

This tour runs for approximately 8-10 hours and departs at 7am. Please ensure that you visit our boat shed before your scheduled tour date.
